My Approach

As a Certified GAPS Practitioner, I employ the use of the Gut and Physiology Syndrome (GAPS) Diet nutrition protocol with the majority of my clients. The GAPS Diet (originally known as the Gut and Psychology Syndrome Diet) was developed by Dr. Natasha Campbell-McBride, a retired neurologist and neurosurgeon in the UK who specialized in working with individuals with a variety of mental health issues including autism, ADHD, schizophrenia, and bipolar disorder.

Since Dr. Campbell-McBride published the diet in 2004, the GAPS diet has shown great promise in aiding in the treatment of many other diseases including diabetes, cardiovascular disease and gastrointestinal disorders including Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Crohn’s disease, and ulcerative colitis. The purpose of the GAPS diet is to heal the lining of the gastrointestinal tract, which is often inflamed and perforated in individuals who suffer from acute and chronic diseases, and to restore the gut with healthy bacteria. The healing of the gut lining and restoration of healthy bacteria helps to alleviate many symptoms and treat the diseases associated with those symptoms.

My approach is to use nutrient-dense, whole foods as medicine. Not only do I provide education regarding the most nutrient-dense foods and where to find them, but I also teach my clients how to prepare these foods in their own home, giving them the tools to be in control of their diet and health. My goal is to help you heal your relationship with food while at the same time healing your relationship with your body. My specialties include digestive and immune disorders, food allergies and infertility, however, my passions in nutrition range widely to also include weight management, mental health, diabetes, and geriatric nutrition.
